Aya: Hello everyone today my group and I will be talking about the basics of biology. 

Hanadi: In today’s video, we are going to talk about ecosystems, populations in an ecosystem, predators, prey, and more topics that will help us understand ecosystems.

Mariam: First, we are going to talk about ecosystems. An ecosystem is a community of organisms living together and interacting in the same place at the same time.

Aya: Then comes a community, community is a group of animals living in the same place and having living characteristics in common that help them support each other.

Hanadi: Next are populations, populations are organisms of the same species that live in the same place at the same time and compete for resources such as food and water.

Mariam: Predators are animals that prey on other animals for the sake of energy (food). Some animals hunt during the day, and some hunt during the night. 

Aya: And Prey is an animal that is hunted for food. The predator would typically pick on a weak animal to prey on since they are easier to capture, however, it could still be difficult to catch prey since they generally are smart and quick to think.

Hanadi: A group of similar organisms that can interbreed and produce fertile offspring are called species. They are typically found in the same ecosystems.

Mariam: Speciation is the formation of a new species.

Aya: Habitat is the natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism.

Hanadi: In evolutionary theory, adaptation is the biological mechanism by which organisms adjust to new environments or to changes in their current environment.

Marian: Natural selection, the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring. 

Aya: Aerobic relating to, involving, or requiring free oxygen. 

Hanadi: Anaerobic relating to, involving, or requiring an absence of free oxygen.
