On December 4, 1982, a baby was born to his parents Boris and Dushka Vujicic. His name would be Nicholas James Vujicic. On that day no one knew it, but his amazing journey would impact the lives of millions.

INTRODUCTION

When Nick's mother heard her babies first cries a sigh of relief drew past her. However as the room went silent and expressions on the nurses changed, Nick's mother grew fearful. As his father took a first glimpse at his Babyboy born with no arm or limbs, he immediately fainted at the sight. 

His mother, a pediatric nurse that cared for hundreds of babies was terrified to hold her newborn son. Now, she demanded to know what was wrong with her baby.

That hospital room in Melbourne, Australia would grow cold and the air dense.

Not only was baby Nick crying, his parents were crying and even the nurses.

Nicks parents anxiously plead for an answer, the doctors only response was "Phocomelia." It is a rare condition of having one less limb or no limbs at all. After all the emotional distress his parents would go through they would become his biggest supporters. On the other hand, Nick would have to adapt to using his small feet and the only two toes he has to assist him.

Only 4 out of 100,00 kids contract it!

Several would argue that he was the unlucky one but the things Nick would achieve would prove otherwise

Over the years after being fed and taken care of, it would eventually come to an end when reality would come flying at him: school. Both his parents decided to put him in a mainstream school. He was one of the first physically disabled students to be put into a regular school after laws changed.

School would end up becoming a difficult burden for Nick. Due to his appearance being different he was often bullied. He even said kids would come up to him and tease him for his condition. This played a toll on his mental health and Nick fell into a severe depression. It was at age 8 that he was so unhappy with life he wanted to stop the pain. But with the help of his parents by age 10 he realized how much he loved his parents and would never want to put them through such pain.

Being a young kid and filled with more hope than ever he prayed that a miracle would happen in his life. That turning point was when his mother showed him a man in a magazine dealing with the same severe disability as Nick had been his whole life. That moment gave  Nick the realization that he wasn't alone. He began to accept his appearance by embracing it and becoming grateful for the life he was given.

Everyday became a daily struggle. He would have to put forth the work for everyday things people like me and you do! Just imagine all the things we do that Nick needed to find a different way to do!

Playing the drums? Nick found a way!

Throwing a tennis ball? Nick found a way!

Getting a glass of water or food? Nick found a way!

Combing your hair in the morning? Nick found a way!

As he grew older he even began to play sports such as golf and swimming. You would probably say "How can he swim, he has no arm or legs!" Nick became proof that even the things that seem impossible can become possible when you put your heart and mind into it!

The biggest situation that grew Nicks confidence in himself was at 17 years old. He had an encounter with a janitor. He told Nick, "One day you will be a speaker." How could someone predict the future? Well, that janitor saw something that Nick didn't see in himself for a long time. His kind words became a product of the opportunities that Nick would end up taking. It had been written in his heart for a long time

Never forgetting that encounter with the janitor, he founded the "Life Without Limbs Foundation." It's headquarters is located in Agoura Hills, California. The even crazier part is he founded it at only 17 years old! This non-profit organization goes on till this day to spread hope in the darkness and teach people the gospel. This became his way of finding a true purpose for his life and why he had been given this unique trait to be used as a blessing upon others.

Nick had always been a miracle in the making. From working for local charities to giving talks at his prayer group, he was a hero in the midst of tragedy. One thing that sticks with him are his parents wise words. They told him they could have stayed angry over what has happened to him or they could become grateful for what they do have. It became a healthy reminder to him.
