Once there was a small island way out in the deep blue sea. The island was small but not tiny. There were coral reefs on each side of the island.
Two types of people lived on the island. Some people were light blue and others were pink. All the people were friendly and enjoyed being on the island together.

The island was rich with resources. There were fresh water streams, lakes and even a waterfall!
On one side of the island, most food that was produced was blue. There were blueberries growing wild with blue carrots while blue-gill fish were swimming in a blue-tinged lake.
On the other side of the island grew strawberries, cherries, blood oranges and pink fish swam in a pinkish pond.
The people who lived near blue food began to prefer to eat only blue things and those who lived near red foods felt the same. As the people learned about farming, they only grew the things in their favorite colors and even invented more.
Pink ice cream was first then blue followed.
The blue people had blue eggs and ham before the pink people thought of it.

After living on single color diets for awhile, the people noticed their skin colors were much darker. Now the people were either true blue or red! And they all thought their skin color was the most beautiful.

The red people painted their houses red while the blue people painted theirs blue. The blue people shopped at Bluemart and the red people only went to Redmart for everything. Both groups wanted everything to match so they even built little blue schools or red schools for their children.
The people continued to be friends and tried to share things but. . .

One day during a picnic, a person with exceptionally nice blue skin decided there should be a leader of the island and said, "Since I had the idea of leader first, I'll take the job and proclaim blue the royal color and name this land The Blue Island!" All the blue people agreed and cheered for Blue.
The red people didn't like the idea at all and chose a lovely red person to be their leader and wanted red to be the royal color of Red Island.
Since the two groups of people were still peaceful, they didn't want to argue so they just separated and went to their own sides of the island. They built fences that they eventually painted their favorite colors.
Soon there were no more friendly picnics and eventually some people became suspicious of those who looked different.
The red people decided to build a privacy wall to protect their land. The blue people built a wall too but made theirs taller than the red wall.
Soon there was a wall dividing the island in half. People thought it was better not to see anyone who was not their color so each group kept building the wall higher until it almost reached the sky.
Generations later, nobody remembered why there was a wall on the island. The paint colors had faded and it looked like it had always been there.
One day some red children became tired of watching the same old red cartoons and went outside to play near the wall. They heard some strange sounds coming from the other side. People were laughing and cheering. There were kicking sounds too. Then someone yelled, "Guard your goal! Goalie stay centered! Here comes Dragon with his hat trick!" Loud cheers and moans rang out.
Later the children heard lots more cheering and a loud voice shouted, "Great game, Falcons! You sent Dragon back to the den today!"
"Yikes!" shouted a scared red child. "They have a dragon over there! That must be why the wall is so high. It keeps the blue dragon away."
The red parents agreed that the wall was a good dragon defense and the children should find a safer thing to do so they stayed inside creating computer games until. . .
