Honey, I will read you a story my mom used to read me when I was little. I hope you like it! It's a true story and the subject is the creation of a religion in Africa, the name is Yoruba.

Yess, thank you mom before sleep!

Look at the animals in these countries!

Many religions have been created and there are many in the world today, there are exactly 10000, imagine that in our village each one is a different religion from the others. That's a lot. I am going to explain to you the creation of a religion called Yoruba. The country in which it was created is southwestern Nigeria, in Africa. In this country, you can find many animals that we don't have here like elephants, giraffes, zebras and many others.

They are so big!

This religion was created in Africa and provided moral and spiritual support to slaves from that country who went to the United States as slaves. This religion enabled them to better bear the pain and injustice they were experiencing. 

You know it wasn't so long ago that people like you and me couldn't do anything on our own, they were getting beaten up and a lot of things by other people.  It was a difficult time and today a lot of stories and movies are being told to explain all these events. Nigeria is there!

Imagine I forbid you something unjust and you manage to find a time to do it anyway, it's called resistance, you'll learn that when you're older.

They were not allowed to practice their religion, but they managed to find ways to hide it by the names of Christian saints, thinking of the resemblance between Christian saints and their own saints.

Mom is like when you say I'm not allowed to gamble when I haven't done anything and I still end up gambling without you realizing it. :)
