Books are often judged by children in a negative, boring way, something to be avoided, however they represent the possibility of expanding the vocabulary, stimulating the imagination and thinking, learning life lessons and, last but not least, acquiring new knowledge. 

The book, The Little Prince, reflects all its characteristics.

We students of the 2° G class at "IC DD1- Cavour Comprehensive School" would like to rewrite the story revisiting it by inserting the life lesson of our times: life at the time of Covid-19.

        The newfound friendship

The little prince is determined to explore the universe.

He leaves his squad with the promise to return enriched with knowledge and experience.

Thus, jumping from one planet to another, he is intrigued by a very peculiar image for its astonishing beauty and at the same time terrifying fright: 

a wonderful blue planet, totally enveloped by a monstrous red octopus with its tentacles embedded in the emerald green of its lands, almost as if it drew all its energy from it.

Driven by curiosity, the little prince cannot help but jump to that planet to understand what was happening.

He lands on a green lawn, where he meets a nice ladybug perched on a blade of grass, busy observing the paradise that surrounded her.

The butterflies with their splendid colors, the jumping grasshoppers, the very fast dragonflies and the dear ants brought the food collected in the anthill enlivened that enchanted place.

The little prince asked the ladybug what that huge monster was with those menacing tentacles that enveloped that beautiful planet of his.

The ladybug replied that it was a virus called Covid 19 that attacks humans; and added that he saw it so big, because the man had managed to make it that size;

in reality the virus reached a maximum of one thousandth of a millimeter of length!

But man cannot respect simple rules, you know ...

Then the ladybug solemnly says to the little prince:

"We insects are safe, but look around you, wouldn't you make the sacrifice of

staying a while in your den, just to save your wonderful world?".

The little prince said to the wise ladybug: "Yes, for a greater good it is worth making small sacrifices"

The little prince greeted the ladybug and walked towards a tentacle.

"Knock knock, hey up there would you like to talk to me for a bit?"

Covid-19 heard the voice of the little prince and did not believe his ears, finally someone who wanted to listen to him!

So he reduced his size and became small enough to fit on the palm of the little prince's hand, who said to him:

"Why do you attack the man?"

"You're wrong, it's the man who attacked me by removing me from my habitat, I was so happy with my brothers in my beautiful swamp ... And then all of a sudden I found myself in the city, in total chaos .. . And I have become bigger and bigger and cumbersome and I can't go back to my house and I'm very sad, just without friends. "

The ladybird who had silently followed the little prince exclaimed:

"Other than ruthless! You are also sad and disconsolate!"

The prince then said to her: "One day a friend of mine told me that one can only see well with the heart, the essential is invisible to the eyes".

Then he turned to Covid 19 and offered him a new purpose: to get to know the universe with him, who will forever be a great friend of his.

Covid 19 enthusiastically accepted and finally the Earth was free from the virus, thanks to a little superhero who injected the virus with a vaccine full of friendship.
