Hello, everybody!
Here is our Glossary book about Water. We are deeply convinced of the fundamental role of water for living beings and for the planet. Clean water means Life, Health, Food, Energy! It is necessary to save it because of water shortage and the increase in temperature that causes the melting glaciers and global warming. What can we do to help saving water? It is not difficult: let's adopt some simple rules, called "eco gestures" and pay attention to our planet's needs!

EVAPORATION
Evaporation is a process in which water changes from a liquid state to a gaseous state.
GLACIER
a large body of ice moving slowly down a slope or valley or spreading outward on a land surface
LITTER
Trash, such as paper, cans, and bottles, that is left lying in an open or public place.
ECO-FRIENDLY
having a beneficial effect on the environment or at least not causing environmental damage

TURKEY-Mutlu Metin , TEVFIK ILERI IHO/SAMSUN
IRRIGATION
is the process of applying controlled amounts of water to plants at needed intervals. Irrigation helps to grow agricultural crops, maintain landscapes, and revegetate disturbed soils in dry areas and during periods of less than average rainfall.

FRESH WATER
a small amount of salt and other dissolved solids compared to sea water. The concept of fresh water generally describes that water has potable chemical properties. It can be formed in the nature with the ecological cycle, as well as accumulation and distillation in man-made ponds and cisterns.

TURKEY-Mutlu Metin TEVFIK ILERI IHO/SAMSUN

MARINE DEBRIS
Marine debris, also known as marine litter, is human-created waste that has deliberately or accidentally been released in a sea or ocean.
ECO-SYSTEM
A biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment
GREY WATER
The relatively clean waste water from baths, sinks, washing machines, and other kitchen appliances.

TURKEY-Mutlu Metin TEVFIK ILERI IHO/SAMSUN

GROUND WATER
Groundwater is water that exists in the pore spaces and fractures in rock and sediment beneath the Earth's surface. It originates as rainfall or snow, and then moves through the soil into the Groundwater system, where it eventually makes its way back to surface streams, lakes, or oceans. It is naturally replenished from above, as surface water from precipitation, streams, and rivers infiltrates into the ground.

DROUGHT
A prolonged period of abnormally low rainfall, leading to a shortage of water.
TURKEY-Mutlu Metin TEVFIK ILERI IHO/SAMSUN

OIL SPILL: The oil spill contains an environmental pollution caused by the release of liquid gasoline hydrocarbons into the environment due to human activity, especially in the seas.
TRASH: Everything people don't use is called trash
SPRING: Underground water that is held in the soil and in pervious rocks

TURKEY-Ülkü YILDIRIM TOMBUL TEVFIK ILERI IHO/SAMSUN

PESTICIDES: Any substance or mixture of substances intended for preventing, destroying, or controlling any pest, including vectors of human or animal disease, unwanted species of plants or animals, causing harm during or otherwise interfering with the production, processing, storage, transport, or marketing of food, agricultural commodities, wood and wood products or animal feedstuffs, or substances that may be administered to animals for the control of insects, arachnids, or other pests in or on their bodies.

TURKEY-Ülkü YILDIRIM TOMBUL TEVFIK ILERI IHO/SAMSUN
THERMAL RESOURCES: Thermal resources are hot springs that help people find healing
RAINWATER HARVESTING: Rainwater harvesting is accumulation and storage in place for reuse, rather than leaving it for rainwater flow.
SALINE WATER: Saline water is water that contains high concentrations of dissolved salts, water containing salt, it is especially the mineral water containing sodium chloride, sodium sulfate, and magnesium sulfate.

TURKEY-Ülkü YILDIRIM TOMBUL TEVFIK ILERI IHO/SAMSUN

SEWAGE: in other words ,domestic/municipal wastewater, is a type of wastewater that is produced by a community of people.
SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT: It is the purification of the basic water of life, which is quickly contaminated for domestic or industrial use.

TURKEY-Ülkü YILDIRIM TOMBUL TEVFIK ILERI IHO/SAMSUN

SEA TURTLE: These sea creatures that crawl to the sea as soon as they are born die even at a younger age. People take pictures and cause these creatures to not find the sea and die
SURFACE WATER: Bodies of water that are above ground, such as rivers, lakes, and streams It could also include wetland areas where water may be present intermittently according to the season It can also mean the snow melt or rain which is flowing on the ground surface

TURKEY-Ülkü YILDIRIM TOMBUL TEVFIK ILERI IHO/SAMSUN

Used water:Used water is water returned to our sewers after use (e.g. toilet flush, baths and showers) and charges are levied for the cost of removing, treating and disposing of this used water. Charges are calculated based on how much clean water has been used.
Well:Water hole
Wetland:relating to or existing in areas of land that are naturally wet
Waste:materials that are no longer needed and are thrown away
Wastewater:used water that contains waste substances from homes, factories and farms.

Water filtration:Water filtration is a general term that refers to any system or process that is used to filter out particles and pollutants from water. ... Anything that removes any amount of particles, sediment, bacteria, and the chlorine taste can be called water filtration.

TURKEY,MERSIN-MEHMET ADNAN ÖZÇELIK ORTAOKULU
Water pollution:Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies, usually as a result of human activities. Water bodies include for example lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers and groundwater. Water pollution results when contaminants are introduced into the natural environment.

Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies, usually as a result of human activities.Water bodies include for example lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers.

Water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, biological contaminants, suspended solids, and gases from water. The goal is to produce water fit for specific purposes.

ITALY-IC Ardito-Don Bosco Lamezia Terme

Water scarcity is the lack of fresh water resources to meet water demand. It affects every continent and was listed in 2019 by the World Economic Forum as one of the largest global risks in terms of potential impact over the next decade

ITALY- IC Ardito-Don Bosco Lamezia Terme

Water Crisis is a health crisis. Nearly 1 million people die each year from water, sanitation and hygiene related diseases that could be reduced with access to safe water or sanitation.
