Battery
A battery is a device that stores chemical energy and converts it into electricity. The battery creates an electrical current that can flow to power another thing.
Once Dad put new batteries back in the toy, it began to light up again.
Complete Circuit
A compete circuit is an electrical circuit that has no breaks or stops in the path. A complete circuit allows electricity to flow all the way around the path, and powers things connected to its path.
Since they made an uninteruppted path from the light switch to the light bulb and back, they had a complete circuit cabable of lighting up the bulb.
Conductors of Electricity
A conductor of electricity is an object or material that easily allows the flow of electricity to go from it to another material or object. The materials have to be touching one another to complete the circuit. Metals make good conductors like copper wires and steel.
Once the teacher touched the metal nail to both the wires, the light lit up, signaling the nail was a good conductor.
Electrical Charge
Electric Charge is a group of atoms, like electrons, protons, and neutrons, that stick together and form an electric force. Electron atoms have a negative charge, protons have a positive charge and neutrons have a neutral charge.
The teacher began to rub two conductors together and get an electrical charge.
Electrical Circuit
An electrical circuit is a flow of electrons, or electric current, that is flowing around a closed path. The electrons simply go around the path repeating the same circle.
The teacher then attached wire from the light bulb to the battery, completing the path and creating an electric circuit.
Electric Current
Electric Current is the flow of the atoms that make up an electric charge. The flow of electrons on a path is called an electric current.
After the student flipped the switch, an electric current flowed to the light and lit it up.
