Marcus was a student at Stanford University. He loved school, but he was having a hard time figuring out what he wanted to research for his graduate work in sociology.
Marcus knew that there was more to one story than meets the eye. He thought about how all of his family members' stories were connected. How could he talk about one without mentioning the other?

His family's history was like a rainbow, every color distinct but still connected, each color bleeding into each other, with no end and beginning.
As he contemplated his history, Marcus met a woman named Marjorie. Marjorie was also a student at Stanford University.
Marcus couldn't explain it, but he felt connected to Marjorie. He felt seen and understood by her.
