Grandpa's Story

This is a story of my grandfather ,which happened in his school  at Doddabetta when he was a young lad.  

My grandpa studied in a school named Manonmani and Kings ,he used to say it was a compact school.

it was a summer season the teacher Aieya Kutty

was checking the attendance ,ten students were absent.

"why many kids are absent today?"asked ,Mr.Aieya Kutty sir.

"It is because they all had drank water from the school sir",said one student.

The teacher looked deeply into the students , "It means infection,the water is contaminated ! " said the teacher ,and advised the students  to avoid drinking water from school and bring sufficient water from home.

One of the student complained,"Sir! It is impossible to carry so much water all the way from home"

"Then the water has to be Boiled or filtered before drinking",advised the teacher.

"Then can i bring tea filter or cloth from home  sir!" my grandfathers best friend asked.

"My Go!,No ! bacteria will not be filtered in a tea filter,haven't i taught you water filtration?" exclaimed Mr.Aeiya Kutty.

"wood charcoal and fine sand method of water filtration,sir!"My grandfather replied.

The teacher clapped and said" Good boy!"

Mr.Aieya Kutty Sir gathered few boys along with my grandpa and made a water filtration unit by layering river sand and wood charcoal in the drinking water tank.The students started drinking the filtered water.

The school principal appreciated the team and honored them before the whole school.

My grandpa used to to say this is one of the proudest moment in his life.
