What is the NAEYC and the ethical code of conduct?

Well, the NAEYC is an organization that advocates for young students, and the code of ethical conduct is one way they do it.

The ethical code of conduct guides adults and helps them recognize what is right and what is wrong when it comes to students, families, the people they work with, their communities, and even society. After all, we want everybody to be treated fairly!

The NAEYC starts with core values. These core values help make of the framework for the code of ethical conduct. Think of it like when you're using building blocks. You always start with a base. The core values act as a base for the ethical code of conduct.

But what are the core values?
Great Question! Let's look at them.
Each child is unique
Know how children develop and learn
Support the family bond
Recognize individual cultures
Respect children, families, and coworkers
Respect diversity
Build trust and respect

From the core values, the NAEYC uses ideals and principles to guide us on relationships with children, families, people we work with, community, and society.

What are ideals and principles?
Ideals: are what we are hoping to do
Principles: what we should do to achieve our ideals
Responsibilities to Children

What do you want from your teacher?

Exactly! It is our responsibility to provide you with a safe place to learn that is also healthy and nurturing.
I want to learn!
Responsibilities to Families

We also have a responsibility to families. After all, we are taking care of their children! We need to provide communication, and we need to work together to provide what is best for the students.
