How It Began
Hinduism started 4000 years ago in a place called the Indus Valley in South Asia. When people called the Aryans traveled to the Indus Valley. They did this because they were Pastoralists
(traveled with animals for food). These
Aryan people fused their beliefs with the
Indus people to make Hinduism.
The Caste System
The Caste System was a social hierarchy. There are 5 different classifications in the caste system. Starting from the most to least powerful, Brahmins (priests & Teachers), Kshatriyas (warriors & rulers), Vaishyas (Farmers, traders & merchants), Shudras (labourers), Dalits (Untouchables, Street sweepers). It was impossible to move up the caste system in one life, they believed that if you live a good life in the next life you would be reborn in a higher caste (reincarnation)
Brahmins- Priests
Kshatriyas- Rulers & Warriors
Vaishyas- Farmers, Artisans, and Merchants
Shudras- Laborers
Dalits- Street Sweeper, Garbage Collector
