The korean war started in 1950 with North
Korean troops invading South Korea. North
Korean leader Kim Il-sung launched the attack
once he had received a promise of support
from Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. During this
the U.S stated that they would not get
involved in the war. This gave Stalin more of a
reason to help North Korea with no
repercussions. When the invasion occurred the
U.S actually sprung into action immediately.
The U.S called to the UN for back up in aiding
South Korea.

A few months into the war, with South korea
being helped by the U.S and UN, China decided
to get involved with North Korea and the
Soviet Union. MAny people feared that this
would turn into World War III. The president of
the U.S at this time of the war was president
Truman. There was a lot of talk of the U.S
using atomic warfare on North korea and their
allies. The U.S only used the atomic bomb as a
scare to get an end to the war. After 13
months of fighting, the two sides tried to reach
an agreement that took 2 years.

There was finally an agreement signed in 1953
to cease fire.

The weapons used in the korean war were
many of the same weapons that were used in
World War II. The U.S didn't create any new
weapons ofter the war so they used what they
still had while North Korea and China used
weapons made by the United States as well.
After the first 90 days. North Koreans has
captured many U.S weapons and started to
use them as their own weapons.
During WWII the atomic bomb was created by
the U.S.

The U.S could have easily used the bomb to
control the war as there was no stopping them
from using it. The Soviet Union had bombs but
could not deliver them in the ways that the U.s
had available to them. Near the end of the war
the U.S flown planes from a base in San
Fransisco with the Atomic Bomb on them,
toward North Korea as a threat but never
actually used the bombs against the
communism powers. By not using the bomb
this strengthened the power behind the Atomic
Bomb and made it more credible.
