One Friday night, a group of friends wanted to play mini-golf together. They met at 7:00 p.m.

The group was Liam, Natalie, Peyton, and Sal.

Hi, my name is Liam. I really want to win this game tonight. I will try my best to win. 

My biggest opponent is Natalie. She is very good at mini golf too. I'm scared she might win, but I am very confident in myself. 

I'm too good!

Once we met out front of the course, we went in. We all got our clubs and balls. I got a blue ball, Natalie got a purple one, Peyton got a black one, and Sal got a red one. 

The night had finally begun. There were a few courses, but we chose the hardest one of course. We wanted to have a competitive challenge for all of us. The course seemed to be a pirate theme with pirate ships and little treasure chests everywhere. 

At the first hole, I let Natalie go first. This hole, was just a straight line a few feet away from the starting point. She got ready, and bam! The ball quickly zoomed and..

Rolled right over the hole. "Oh no!" Natalie screamed. I was up next. With a loud whack! I hit the ball. It was a perfect hit. 

Oh no!

I got a hole-in one! Next was Peyton. She took a few shots but finally got it in. 

Sal was a little better, but getting it in the hole still took some time. "Good job, Sal!" said Peyton. "Aww thanks," said Sal. For the next eight holes, I was beating Natalie. It was my night.     

We got to the ninth hole, and I went first. This course had  a big curve and some rocks at the end. I hit the ball too lightly, and it didn't go around the curve.

Nooo!

I hit it again, and it hit a rock. Eventually I got it in.

Once Natalie went, she, of course, got it in after only two hits. For the rest of the game, she kept beating me. She got the edge after the ninth hole and just kept winning

It was not very fun. I was determined to win, but my chances weren't good. I locked in. I was not going to give up. The fun night had turned into a friendly competition between Natalie and me. We were going head to head at every hole. It was an exhausting, exciting game. 

While Natalie and I were battling, Peyton and Sal had fun talking to each other. They've always been close friends. So they were enjoying there time while Natalie and I continued our competitive game.

Finally, we got to the last hole. This was the hardest of the night. It was a slight curve into the hole. Nothing was blocking the path. The only bad part was that the course was going over a bridge.

A small gust of wind moved the little rickety bridge. The bridge seemed to be staring at me. "You will not win!" it seemed to say. 

The whole night was leading to this. This epic battle between my friend and me was about to come to an end. Natalie stepped up first. 

She seemed focused and ready. Something inside of me got scared. Thwack!

She hit the ball, and it went perfectly over the bridge. It rolled right into the hole. "Yes I, did it!" I won!" Natalie said. I wasn't so sure of that. I got ready and stepped to the front of the path.

This is my time!

I focused my mind and brought the club to the ready position. Boom! I hit the ball. 

Time almost seemed to stop immediately. The ball slowly rolled onto the bridge and almost reached the end of the bridge. Until a small gust of wind blew across the bridge. The ball slowly got hit by the wind.
