There once was a boy in the small
town of nine and this little boy's
name was Mathis Mathersine.

Mathis loved school in every way. He walked there each
and everyday. He liked to play in the park and swim in the
pool and he played in a band every day after school.

Then came for Mathis a very big day. This was it the
start of 11th grade. He dressed up real nice in his suit
and his tie to impress his new teachers as he walked by.

Things were going great till Mathis came too, his new math teacher and his
new math classroom. This year he was to take Algebra 2 and trig. But the
numbers and formulas were just too big. The board looked like it was written
on in a foreign language and Mathis couldn't manage to make sense of it. He
couldn't understand what was going on the math didn't make sense did he do
something wrong.

Then before anyone one knew the time just flew by and the end of the year was
looming nearby. Mathis had failed almost every test, he was struggling just to pass
and trying his best. His parents had stopped him from playing with his band even
though he was doing all that anyone can. Trying real hard had just done no good and
Mathis started crying like anyone would.

Then Mathis realized and quivered with fear that the big
test,the regents soon would be here. Mathis had manged to
get his grade to a 72 but if he did badly Mathis just knew that
he'd fail his math class and go to summer school.

Then the teacher saw Mathis shaking and crying and quivering
to. She said, "Mathis how about you stay after school I bet I
can find some way to help you." And later that day after the
last bell rang he came and sat down with his teacher, Miss
Plane.

She said to Mathis "lets do some review I have five formula's I
know can help you.The fist one is easy it goes to a song and
with it you can't solve a quadratic equation wrong. Now sit
close to the board so you know what goes on."

She taught him the song and he learned it real quick and then Miss
Plane explained how to use it. She told him to witch terms were a ,b
and c. Then showed Mathis quite happily how to plug in and solve for
x without factoring. Then Mathis went up to the board and as you
can see he solved a math problem quite easily.

X=-11+or-
_________________
2(1)
X=-11+ or- 9
_____________
2
X=-11 + or - 3
__________
2
X= -7 and X=-4

With Just that small piece of help Mathis already felt better. But Miss plane
had much more to add on to the lesson. She told Mathis,"please don't forget
cause here's a quick tip if the questions are multiple choice just graph and
solve it."

Then she showed Mathis how to find really quick the sum and product of the
roots of a quadratic equation. "These are two little formulas I really count as
one as they both go together, you need both of 'em."
"Just plug in terms a,b, and c of your equation and
solve it's really just that easy. Oh and Mathis don't
forget you don't need a formula if the a term is 1
now this little trick is kind of fun. The negative b
term's your sum and c's your product you don't even
need to worry about it."
