At school, there was a stack of blank papers.
In the stack there was Mr. Papel. He could not wait for someone to color on him!

One day, during center time, the students decided to color. Mr. Papel was so excited when one of the students, Kali, picked him up!

The student colored on him with many colors, red, blue, orange, and yellow.
However, the student decided that they did not like the paper and decided they should get rid of it.
As the student headed to the trash, and Mr. Papel was nervous. He had heard that going in the trash meant going to the landfill, a place filled with lots of stinky trash that sits there day and night. Just then, Kali's teacher called out to her.
Her teacher, Mrs. Shelley, told her, "Instead of throwing our paper away in the trash can, let's throw it away in the blue bin."
"The blue bin? Why? What is so special about the blue bin?" she responded.

"The blue bin is for recycling" the teacher responded.
"Recycling? What does that mean?"
"Yes! Recycling is when we take something, and make it into something new. We place them in the recycling bin, and then all the stuff in the bin gets taken to a recycling facility" Mrs. Shelley responded.
