The class took a field trip to the Californian Tidal Pools. They saw snails, anemones, urchins, and even a sea star!
But the most amazing discovery by far was the Giant Octopus they saw hiding among the rocks.
The class watched, transfixed, as the octopus reached out a suctioned tentacle and snatched a small fish out of the water
"Giant octopi are carnivorous," The teacher explained, "They eat mainly small fish and crustaceans".
Suddenly, an eel darted out from under a rock. The octopus quickly changed its appearance to match the coral behind it.
"Look class!" the teacher exclaimed, "See how the octopus camouflages with the coral? It's even able to change its texture to blend in with its surroundings."
This caught the attention of a boy in front of the class. Curious, he reached out towards the camouflaged octopus.
Suddenly, the octopus disappeared in a cloud of black ink!
