Changes of State

Solid to Liquid
To change from a solid to a liquid, he is absorbed which causes
the melting of the solid into the liquid. The process of changing
the state requires that energy is transferred in the form of heat. In
this case, when a solid transitions into a liquid, it can play a
crucial role in the atmospheric processes which includes the
water cycle.

Liquid to Gas
From a liquid to a gas, water goes through a process called
evaporation in which heat is absorbed and "evaporates" into
the air turning into water vapor. This process is a well known
factor in an atmospheric process known as the water cycle.
They use this process to escape the surface of a liquid to
transform into a gas.

Gas to Liquid
From a gas to a liquid, water goes through a well known
process called condensation. At this time, heat is released from
the gas which "condensates" into clouds which can hold
precipitation. This process is well known as being part of the
atmosphere since this process helps to form clouds that are made
and can store water.

Liquid to Solid
From a liquid to a solid, precipitation can occur or it could
happen inside of the clouds where water is stored. What
happens is heat is released which causes the freezing of
water. This is a known cause of precipitation such as snow,
sleet, and hail in which they all come out as forms of ice.
This water that freezes because of released heat can
increasingly freeze until it falls through the clouds.

Causes
The causes of all of these transformations is simple in the
fact that they are what cause these changes in which they
are known as sublimation and deposition. In this case,
sublimation is when heat is absorbed and deposition is
when heat is released. These are what cause these changes
of of solids to liquids, liquids to gases, gases to liquids, and
liquids to solids.
