The Water Cycle
The Water Cycle is the unending circulation of Earth's water
supply. The water constantly moves among the oceans, the
atmosphere, the solid Earth, and the biosphere. The processes
used in the water cycle is evaporation, condensation,
precipitation, runoff, transpiration, and infiltration.

The Water Cycle

Evaporation
Evaporation is the process of converting a liquid
into a gas. It occurs because all the molecules of
the water are constantly in motion. Evaporation
can take place at any temperature. But they
process more quickly during hot temperature.

Condensation
Condensation takes place when water vapor in
the air condenses from a gas, back into a liquid
form, to "condensate" into clouds in the
atmosphere. Even sometimes when clouds are
absent in a crystal blue sky, water is still
present in the form of water vapor.

Precipitation
Precipitation is any different kind of water that
falls from a cloud. Major forms of precipitation
include rain, snow, sleet, and hail. Precipitation
forms differently depending on the air
temperature. Precipitation mainly falls when the
water becomes too heavy for the cloud to hold.

Run-Off
Run-Off is a process associated with
transpiration which is associated with the water
cycle. Run-Off is when the rate if rainfall
exceeds Earth's ability to absorb it which the
excess water flows over the surface into lakes
and streams. Much of the runoff returns to the
atmosphere because of evaporation from the
soil, lakes, and streams.
