The first unit we studied was geography. Weather is the
condition of the air and sky from day to day. Climate is
the average weather over many years. Indiana's climate
is Humid continental. That means we have cold winters
and warm, wet summers.

The second unit we covered in Mr. Vaughts class was
economics. Economics are the branch of knowledge concerned
with the production, consumption, and transfer of wealth.
Economic systems are how societies deal with limited
resources

Government is any group of people living together in a
country, state, city, or local community has to live by
certain rules. The United states government is
Constitutional republic, which means a state in which the
head of state and other officials are representatives of the
people.

We also learned about culture. Culture is the way of life of
a group of people. Culture is important in many countries.
Culture has many factors. For example, beliefs, customs,
ideas, homes, etc.

Religions are the fifth thing we learned about this year in
social studies. There are many of them but here are just
three examples, Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity. Here in
the United States you can believe in whatever religion you
would like, but the main religion is Christianity.

We also talked about Africa. The
physical features of africa are
different depending on where you
go. For example, if you go to West
Africa, it is very populated and has
grasslands.

The next thing we studied was East Asia. As you can see, East Asia
is very big. There are 2 major rivers in China. They are called the
Chang and the Huang.

We also did South Asia. This was one of the most
recent units we have done. Nearly two thirds of the
land in Southwest Asia is desert, and many parts of
the region receive little rain.
