U doba velike seobe naroda u Europi, prodiranjem Barbara, doselio se i narod „Croati“ uz Jadransko more i planinu Velebit.

At the time of the great movement of different settlers across the European continent, the Barbarian tribes raided today's territory of Croatia. Along with the Barbarian tribes arrived also the Croats and settled along the mountain range of Velebit overlooking the beautiful Adriatic Sea.

Na žalost, hrvatski narod nije dugo živio u miru. Snašle su ih poplave, munje, suša pa su bili gladni i siromašni. Molili su se svojim bogovima.

Unfortunately, the Croats didn't get the chance to live in peace very long. They were tormented by floods, lightning and drought and were poor and hungry most of the time.

They often prayed to their gods.

Jednoga je dana zasjalo sunce, priroda je bogato rodila i nastalo je blagostanje. Narod je ugledao vilu iznad Velebita. Ona im se smiješila i znali su da je ona njihova zaštitnica pa su je nazvali Vila Velebita. Čak su je opjevali u pjesmi koja se i danas pjeva.

One day, the Sun started to shine, the Nature awakened from sleep and the age of prosperity began.

The Croats spotted a beautiful fairy rising over Velebit. She smiled at them. People knew she was their lady-patron, so they called her 'Vila Velebita' (The Fairy of Velebit).

They even dedicated a song in her honor which is still sung today.

Vila Velebita čuvala ih je tako na okupu 13 stoljeća. Nizali su se ratovi.

The Fairy of Velebit looked after and protected the Croats for thirteen centuries.

Many wars were fought.

Godine 1990. hrvatski narod snašao je Domovinski rat koji je trajao 5 godina. I tada se Vila Velebita pokazala kao vjerna zaštitnica uz pomoć koje su Hrvati dobili snagu i vjeru u svoju slobodu.

In 1990 Homeland War broke out on the territory of today's Croatia. It was fought for five exhausting years.

As many times earlier, the Fairy of Velebit was a loyal protector of the Croats, and thanks to her, our people have gained the needed strength and faith in their freedom.
