Little Jordan Romero, Age 10, had walked past this mural everyday all through 4th grade. Only till 5th grade did he speak up to his father that he wanted to climb all 7 summits. His dad was an adventure racer and was up for the challenge, but he told Jordan that he would have to train.
For several months he trained. He practiced with crampons, metal teeth that you can put on the bottom of snowshoes to make it easier to walk across ice. He put 10-20 pound weights in his backpack,so he can gain strength.
He was now ready.

In April 2006, his dad, step mom, and himself climb their first summit, Mt. Kilimanjaro. The elevation of this monstrous mountain is 19,341 feet. It is Africa's highest point. Specifically, it was in the country Tanzania
Jordan was amazed from the different culture there. The bus he rode was old and needed a good wash. He wasn't allowed to eat anything you can't peel or drink anything but water from water bottles. Where he was water and food could be contaminated with murderous bacteria.

The next summit the group of three climbed was Mount Elbrus in Russia, Europe. The summit reached to the height of 18,510 feet above sea level. It doesn't reach the height of Mt. Kilimanjaro, but it was still tough for young 11 year old Jordan. The thing that was keeping him going was the picture of a hot bowl of spaghetti that he was promised once he accomplished the mountain.
When he was finished and got back to their hotel, he got his bowl of spaghetti. He didn't like it. He guessed it was because they were in Russia, so the food was different.
He climbed the summit on on his Birthday.

On December 2007, Jordan had climbed Mount Aconcagua, the second highest mountain on the planet Earth at 22,841 feet.
He climbed with others who were friends of his dad, but none of them made it to the top. He made the top with his dad and stepmother.
At one time, he had to wait at a camp for three days because the weather got really bad. He had heard of people being swept of the mountain by the wind. He was afraid he would be on of them.

In the month of June 2008, Jordan climbed the summit, Mount Denali in Alaska, US. It climbs up to 20,320 ft above sea level. This summit is the third tallest summit, running behind Mount Aconcagua by 2521 feet.
For this summit he had to learn how to use different things. The ascender is an object that helps you ascend or go higher on a rope. It clips on and doesn't move until you move it manually. He also had to learn how to work a carabiner. A carabiner is a coupling link with safety closure for ropes when you are climbing.
