Overview
Our health is what makes or breaks us. All the choices we make add up to determine our future. Unfortunately, most people don't realize how many things effect our health, and what effect our health has on our daily lives. In this book, we will take a closer look into the key components of health and different disorders associated with each.

Health Triangle
The health triangle is a model used to show the three
components of health and the importance of their equal
balance. Each component--physical, mental, and
social--are key for living a productive life.

6
Physical
Physical factors focus on any functions relating to
your body. Some obvious parts of physical well-being include fitness and nutrition. However, some other, more discreet fragments such as sleep and hygiene also fall within the physical category.
7
Fitness
Staying physically active is an important part of life. It can have many long-term benefits if followed:
*prevents the three leading health causes of death.
*controls weight and promotes muscle strength
*promotes strong bone, muscle, and joint development
* improves sleep
* decreases depression and relieves stress
* lengthen life expectancy
8
Nutrition
It important to understand the rules of healthy eating in order to find the best results. Try to avoid fats and high-calorie foods with few nutrients. MyPlate is a great guide to show you what your meals should look like:

- 10% Fruits
- 30% Grains
- 40% Vegetables
- 20% Protein
- Small Serving of Dairy
9
Sleep
Sleep is key for physical health. During the night, your brain processes new information learned as well as making pathways for learning the next day. Sleep also is required to heal and repair your heart and blood vessels. Loss of sleep leads to increased risks of obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, and kidney disease.
10
Hygiene
Personal hygiene includes everything from brushing
your teeth, to taking showers, and brushing your
hair. Without good hygiene practices, you're more
likely to catch and spread infection, illnesses, and have poor
body odors.
11

12
Mental
Mental health shows the importance of your mind
and feelings. Knowledge helps people expand their
horizons and positivity, values, and responsibility
creates a moral character.
13
Learning
Learning is key to success in life. By learning new things throughout the span of your life, you can expect improved confidence and happiness. As well, you will make more informed decisions and become a wiser individual. Not to mention, knowledge improves your chances of a more successful economic life and more career opportunities.
14
Responsibility
Without the ability to take responsibility for your life and decisions, you will be unable to get far in life. While responsibility has a negative connotation, it allows you to learn and reflect on your decisions and step up to the task. People with traits of responsibility have an easier time forming strong relationships and economically advancing.
15
Values
Whether or not you know it, you have morals and values. The question is, what are yours? It is important to develop values that follow your beliefs and help you to build character. Morals guide you through decisions and give you motivation and meaning to life. Without personal morals, you will be lost in the world and left following everyone else's lead.
16
Positivity
Negativity is inevitable, but it important to keep a positive outlook whenever possible. Not only will you have a better quality of life, you can also expect to have a higher performance in daily and work-related tasks. There are two easy tips to rid yourself of pessimistic thoughts and become positive:
1. Separate negative thoughts (fiction) from fact
2. Identify the positive of the situation
17

18
Social
The social portion of the health triangle looks into your interactions with other people. Things like friendship and support help people to create relationships. Respect and cooperation focus more on how you work with others in a work setting where work is done.
19
Friendship
Friends provide support and company when you need it most. Some other benefits of friendship are:
- Encourage healthy lifestyle habits
- Help to cope with various forms of trauma
- Provide happiness and reduce stress
- A greater sense of purpose and belonging
- Build self-confidence and self-worth
20
Cooperation
Cooperation is a needed trait for any job or career you will take part in. In order for progress and advances to be made, a group effort is required to get the most out of time. Without a sense of teamwork and cooperation, everything would take much longer and be less effective. No employer will hire you if you cannot work with others respectively and efficiently.
21
Support
When there are bad patches of negativity in your life, it is crucial you have a support system to pick you back up. Without support, people have shown signs of depression, anxiety, and a lower quality of life. With support, we think higher of ourselves, having greater self-esteem and content with our lives.
