What is augmented reality?

Augmented reality is the integration of digital information with the user's environment in real time.

It differs from virtual reality. Virtual reality creates a totally artificial environment, while augmented reality uses the existing environment and overlays new information on top of it.

Today you may see augmented reality when a sport's score is displayed on television during the game. The information about the surrounding real world becomes interactive and digitally manipulative.

Aid archeologists in rebuilding ruins, buildings, landscapes, and even ancient characters as they formally existed.

Aid architects to visualize building projects.
