What is augmented reality?
2
Think of augmented reality as a way to combine technology and your true environment. Unlike virtual reality, it doesn't bring us any place different...it just adds to what we see around us.

(Rouse, 2017)
3

How does it work?
4
Devices use GPS and the compass. When you scan a trigger image, something else appears in your view.
You have most likely used augmented reality! Think of Pokemon Go! or a Heads Up display in a car.

(Rouse, 2017)
5
How could I use it in my classroom?

6

Augmented reality can be as simple as scanning QR codes to check an answer, or as complex as walking students through a physics assignment.
(ISTE-E, 5.c., 2017)
(Brown, 2015)
7

Other ways....
8
*Scan a math problem to see a video of the teacher solving it
*Add dimension to story books
*Bring flash cards to life
*Add recorded student reviews to books
*Scan vocabulary to hear the definition
*Make your word wall interactive
(Brown, 2015)
