What excites you about this idea or proposition?

I am excited about the different ways media can be used in the classroom. There were many listed in the video such as YouTube, podcast and Internet. I think that technology is the most popular way to keep students interested in learning. I am excited about using these tools in my future classroom and learning as they learn.

Technology has many benefits such as building students reading, writing, and math skills. There are many different tools for content subjects. I worry that the students may rely on technology too much. What do you do if technology is not available? How will you keep the student’s interest and continue the learning process?

What else do you need to know or find out about this idea or proposition? What additional information would help you to evaluate things?

The school system is known for not having enough funds for the school district. I would need to know if there would be enough available resources for the students. I worry about using technology the wrong way such as for cyber bullying.

The use of technology is great because it is here to stay. It is an area that is constantly growing. I want to become more familiar with the media tools that I can use in the classroom. I would like to get some professional development in this area of study. I would like to observe a career teacher using technology.

Lesson Plan

Title: Color my Grammar

Grade: 3 -8

Content area: composition, grammar and spelling

Product: Word processing, Google Docs

Brief overview: Students type several sentences in MS Word. Use the font color palette to label parts of speech, i.e., blue for subject, red for verb. Use sentences from a book they’re reading in class, spelling words they’re working on, or a teacher hand-out. Makes grammar fun.

I am excited about the student using technology and learning how to construct sentences.

W = Worrisome

What do you find worrisome about this idea or downside? The students will not know to how to spell words correctly because of the auto correct feature or misspelled words being highlighted.

What else do you need to know or find out about this idea or proposition or help to evaluate things? I would need to know if the students comprehend the sentences.

S = Stance or Suggestion for Moving Forward

What is your current stance or opinion on the idea or proposition? How to move forward? I would evaluate would give them a test to evaluate their knowledge on grammar and spelling.

Title:The Wonders of Google Earth

Grade:5-8

Content area: Geography/Presentation skills

Product: Google maps

Brief overview: Students create their own tour on Google Earth using locations selected by the classroom teacher. They add the locations to Google Earth, add a fact about it and turn it into a tour

What excites you about this idea or proposition? What's the upside? I am excited about the student will see the world from a digital view.

W = Worrisome

What do you find worrisome about this idea or proposition? What's the downside?

The student will be interested in doing this assignment. They may be get off track and try to find their home on the map

What else do you need to know or find out about this idea or proposition? What additional information? They students will have to know how to use google map

S = Stance or Suggestion for Moving Forward

What is your current stance or opinion on the idea or proposition? How might you move forward? I would do a guided demonstration for the students before giving the assignment and provide a give a test for overall evaluation.
