Today was the first day of school. While my mom was driving me home, she asked me how my first day was. I told her about my new friends and new school.

When we got home, I told her about my new teacher, Ms. Falk. Ms. Falk speaks Spanish just like mom and I do! She learned to speak Spanish in Costa Rica.

Ms. Falk told us that she hiked on a volcano in Costa Rica. The guide taught her a lot of new words in Spanish.

She visited a rainforest and learned about the animals that live there. She said we are going to learn about them in class this year!

She went scuba diving in the ocean, too! I told her that I love fish so she said she will show me a video she took underwater!

Ms. Sara said that she learned a lot on her trip to Costa Rica. Not everyone can go to other countries, because it's expensive. But Ms. Sara went to college and they helped her pay for her trip so that she could learn about new people and places. It's called study abroad.

I'm glad that Ms. Sara went to Costa Rica! I can't wait to hear more stories about her trip! And when I get older, I can go to college and study abroad!
