The Boston Massacre

On the night of March 5, 1770, several Boston residents were shot and killed by British soldiers in what became known as the Boston Massacre. The soldiers were afraid of the colonists because they thought they were going to attack them.

The Declaration of Independence was made to make sure that the new ruler couldn't be like the king. It made sure the people had a voice in government.

The Battle of Saratoga was the turning point in the revolutionary war because the colonists won the battle and gained the French as allies. The French helped the colonists a lot because it gave them more soldiers.

George Washington was an American general that lead the colonists in many battles. After the revolutionary war he was elected the first U.S. president.
