I dedicate this book to everyone who wants to change America.

In the late 1800’s there was a boy named Henry Ford. For his 11th birthday he was given a watch. He soon figured out how to take it apart and put it back together again.

It was then that the young entrepreneur started his first business to fix the watches of his community. All of his family members were farmers and he grew up on a farm where he was expected to be a farmer when he grew up.
At the age of 16 Ford moved out and went build ships. Later he worked for a big engineering company where his boss was the inventor of the light bulb: Thomas Edison. Eventually he even became chief engineer.

While he worked there he created the Ford Quadricycle. This was one of the world's first horseless carriages. It had a two cylinder engine and had 4 horsepower. He pinched this invention to Edison and he became Ford’s first supporter and stockholder. Edison knew there would be the risk that it wouldn’t work out and no one would like it but he took the chance and got a reward.

With advice from his boss Ford created The Model Ford T in 1908. The invention that made his famous. He also used the assembly line to make his cars.

His innovation quickly became popular because now the middle class could own a car whereas before cars were a luxury for the rich. In the beginning the Model T cost $850 and in the span of 18 years it went down to $310. His car was not only cheap it was also a quality car because it was durable and adaptable for customers.
Ford valued his employees and made sure they were treated well with good pay. His employees were paid $5 an hour, which is 125$ now.

One reason he could afford to pay his employees highly other than the fact that his car was so popular was because Ford used the assembly line.

The assembly line was when one employee would put the first two parts together and pass it on to the next person in line who would do the same and this process would continue until the whole car was built.
