The car, we use it everyday in our lives. We use cars to get to school and to go almost anywhere. We take the cars for granted and it is thanks to Henry Ford that we even have good cars today. Let’s go back to the 20th century!

Back in the early 1900s, anything seemed possible at the time. Many advancements came and the car, or the automobile, was also innovated. On a farm in Greenfield Township, Michigan. This soon to be millionaire’s father wanted Ford to take the farm.

Ford had other ideas though. When he was 13 he was gifted with a watch. Ford would take it apart, and then put it back together for fun. By the time he was 16, he wanted to become a mechanic, so he left home and went to Detroit.

Henry Ford eventually ended up working in Edison’s Illuminating company as a chief engineer. Ford shared his idea with Edison, the inventor of the light bulb. Ford wanted to create a better version of the automobile. He would restart from A-Z, so he did exactly that.

Ford created 8 automobiles before coming to the successful Model T. These were the Model A, B, C, F, K, N, R, and S. One theory on the missing letters is that those cars were not eligible to be sold and therefore scraped.
The Model A was the first of several to come. It came as a two seater and a four seater. It was cheaper than any other automobile and it was successful in selling.

The Model B was more expensive but it was more luxurious and fancy. It’s sales were less than that of the Model A.

The Model C was a more powerful version of the Model A and was called the Doctor’s car.

The Model F was an improvement of the Model C and was also more luxurious.

The Model K was produced to replace the Model B. It did not sell as well as the others because it was too expensive.

The Model N was meant to replace the Models A and C. Unlike its predecessor, it sold successfully and was the first American car to use vanadium steel, a stronger metal.
