We dedicate this book to
Sun, for making our world brighter.
Long ago, in a little town
lived a family of four who never wore a frown.
This family had only heard tales of a sun down
but never experienced light all around.
In this family were two loving parents.
A little boy and girl they cherished.
The boy’s name was Isaac and he was anything but quiet.
The girl’s name was Abigail, and at most things she didn't fail.
Abigail was the brains just as Isaac was the brawns.
Together they made a team worthy of applause.
One day on their way to school they couldn’t help but wonder,
"What would this world look like if it wasn’t so far under
the dark endless sky, with only Moon as a source of light?"
So they looked to the villagers, to the people who claimed they knew Sun well. Too bad every person they asked
had a different story to tell.
“Sun was a small white dot seen above,” one said.
“She was useless, and lazy. Sun never received much love.
So finally, in the middle of the day when Sun was high
She told the world her most sincerest goodbye.”
Another said, “No! That is anything but the truth!
Sun was evil, a devil in its youth!
The universe had no choice but to put Sun away,
so humanity wouldn’t have to bow down to her
yet another day.”
SCHOOL
Abigail and Isaac didn’t know who to trust.
Their minds were spinning. Their hopes turned to dust.
With nothing more to ask, they were off on their way.
To school they continued walking,
looking up at the dark sky in dismay.
Then, out of nowhere
a villager appeared in the road.
He ushered the children over,
and one by one he told
them both of a story he claimed to be true
a story about Sun is one he drew.
SCHOOL
WAIT!
“Sun was a saint, bright and warm,
which is why it was such a travesty
when she wasn’t informed,
that Moon would come and lock her away.
A cruel ruler of the sky he is, even to this day."
It was something in his eyes
that made the kids believe his tale.
Accepting this story, Abigail and Isaac abandoned their trail.
Now turning away from school, they decided,
it was time for Sun to come out of hiding.
Thank you!
Faced with the problem of contacting Moon,
Abigail and Isaac asked help of the only one they knew
to have access to the sky in the fastest way possible.
His speed was one that was basically unstoppable.
Frank was the name of the shooting star
A friend of their family’s since before they could remember
The kids called his name out to the sky and watched in awe,
as Frank shot across the sky, as fast as ever.
“You called?” Frank asked. The kids nodded their heads.
“What is it that you want me to attend?”
Abigail responded that they needed a ride to Moon and back , as if it was as simple as that.
Frank said “Of course! Just hop on my back.” Abigail and Isaac did just that. Together, they soared across the sky
into space they continued to fly.
Frank shouted, “We’re here!” They looked out at their surroundings, amazed at what they saw. Above and below them, there was nothing but solid black
And stars littering that space as if its placement was exact.
It was then that they both finally spotted Moon,
They couldn’t believe they had arrived so soon.
Moon’s eyebrows were slanted, and he wore an evil grin.
Abigail and Isaac knew now was the time they would overthrow him.
Frank dropped them off next to Moon.
Moon looked up suddenly, confused at his company.
Then angry all at once, roaring at the top of his lungs.
“I AM THE MIGHTY RULER OF EARTH. HUMANS, BOW DOWN AND SEE THE FULL EXTENT OF MY WRATH.
HOW DARE YOU LEAVE MY DOMAIN,
WITHOUT EVEN CONSULTING ME!”
Right away Abigail and Isaac knew what roles they had to play
to outsmart Moon into giving information away.
They would have to be two starstruck fans of Moon
acting as if his charms they were not immune.
“O’ Mighty Moon, we both bow down to you,” Abigail said.
“We very much admire everything that you do,
which is why we are here in person to ask you
how you managed to rise to power, and maintain it too?”
We now worship you
“It is a most fascinating tale, about how I became ruler.
I saw the true colors of Sun, how evil she truly was,
and I knew I had to stop her.
So for the greater good I planned to take the place of Sun.
And, as it turns out, I overthrew her and won.”
“You have to tell us more,” pleaded Isaac adoringly.
“We need to know the full story.
What did you do with Sun, after you rose to glory?”
Moon, still on his high horse, spilled the beans on his course of action.
He told the kids that he threw the Sun into a black hole in space, giving them the whereabouts to let the kids know he wasn’t lying to their face.
Immediately, however, Moon knew this was a mistake
The kids smiled, for now Sun was up to take.
“HOW DARE YOU TRY TO TRICK ME!” Moon growled.
“PREPARE TO FEEL MY WRATH!
YOU WILL NEVER RETURN TO EARTH
I HEREBY SEND YOU ON A DANGEROUS PATH!"
Moon puckered his lips and blew the kids away
Abigail and Isaac spiraled through space
Feeling both scared and out of place
because of Moon’s sudden display.
The children realized where they were heading in horror
as an enormous black hole appeared in sight.
They tried everything they could to escape their doom
but still they were sucked into the dark black night.
