Chapter 1: Government
The Government has been around for many years it began around the 1600s. We use our government for many other things. We have two main types of governments; unlimited
and limited.
Events in Government History: The Magna Carta
The Magna Carta was a document signed by King John. It stated that the King could no longer be above the law. After signing this document King John
and became a limited
government.




A Person in Government History: John Locke

John Locke believed that everybody was born with natural rights; Life, Liberty, and the Right to Own Property. He is considered one of The Great Political of the Enlightenment. John Locke's writing is also in the Declaration of Independence.
Technological Advancement/ Invention in Government History: The English Bill of Rights
The English Bill of Rights was a document signed by William and Mary in 1791. This document allowed Parliament to make laws, and protect the individual rights of people.








Chapter 2: Exploration
In the Early ages people used exploration to find, resources, shelter, and food. Exploration is where you set out to find a new area or place. We still use exploration today.








Event in Exploration History: Imperialism in Africa
Expansion let to the treaty of where Belgium gained the Congo, but other nations wanted it as well. Then 14 nations met at the Berlin Conference with no representative for Africa, 1884-885, to decide who gets Africa.

Person in Exploration History: Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus set out across the ocean in 1492, in search for a direct passage from Europe to Asia. He never got to Asia instead he found the Americas.




Technological Advancement/Invention in Exploration History: Astrolabe
The Astrolabe was used in the early 12th century, the Astrolabe was mostly used by navigators and astronomers. The Astrolabe would help explorers by keeping up with time and making sure they were still on track for the correct course.

Chapter 3: Colonization
Colonization has been used for many centuries, we used colonization when the British sent people over to the Americas for the new colonies. Colonization is where a group of people start a group in a new area.
Event in Colonization History: Jamestown
On May 14, 1607 a group of about 100 members from the Virginia Company founded the first group in North America. Famine, disease, and conflict with Native americans brought Jamestown to failure.


Person in Colonization History: Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson was the leader of a movement in Virginia and a delegate in the Continental Congress. He also negotiated the Louisiana purchase with France to double United States land.

Technological Advancement in Colonization History: Cotton Gin
The Cotton Gin is a machine used to make separating cotton from the seeds easier. The Cotton Gin was created by Eli Whitney. Thanks to the Cotton Gin cotton productions dubouled every year.



Chapter 4: Scientific Revolution
The Scientific Revolution was in the late 1500s and the early 1600s, it was a time of scientific and math advancements. New research and ideas happened during this time.


Event in Scientific Revolution History: The Church and Science
Conflicts began with the church and the ideas of these new scientific thoughts and of how it went against traditional beliefs, theories and books led to even more conflict. The teaching of the bible and church were later on questioned.

Person in Scientific Revolution History: Francis Bacon
Francis Bacon was the creator of the Scientific Method. The Scientific Method contributed greatly during this time period. It established a way to find proof with reason, it was a logical procedure with test theories.

Technological Advancement/Invention in Scientific Revolution History: The Heliocentric Theory
The Heliocentric theory is that the sun is at the center of out system and the planets revolve around the sun. This theory was against the idea of Geocentrism which said that the sun revolved around the planets.





Chapter 5: The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was the Intellectual movement of the 17th and 18th Centuries. It began in search to apply reason and to understand society better. It also included conflicts with governments.
Event in The Enlightenment History: Element Challenges Tradition
The Enlightenment showed a differing view that challenged absolutism. Philosophers argued that state of nature was a condition of human existence that continued social and political organization.




Person in The Enlightenment History: John Locke
John Locke was considered one of the Great Political of the Enlightenment. John Locke believed that everyone was born with three natural rights; life, liberty, and the right to own property.

Technological Advancement/ Invention in The Enlightenment History: The Pendulum Clock
Galileo invented the pendulum clock as a better way to keep time. He figured out that each swing the Pendulum swung lasted one second each and if you left the pendulum swinging it would keep time.

Chapter 6: The American Revolution
The American Revolution was a colonial revolt in the years of 1765-1783. The Patriots won independence from Great Britain, becoming the United States of America.
Event in The American Revolution: The Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783 by the representatives of King George 3 and representatives of The United States. This treaty then ended the Revolutionary War.

Person in The American Revolutionary War: Benedict Arnold
Benedict Arnold was a general during the American Revolutionary War, he also fought for the Continental Army. He then later on defected to the British Army.


Technological Advancement/Invention in The American Revolutionary War: Morse Code
Morse Code is a character encrypted message system that was used to send messages to one another in the Revolutionary War.

Chapter 7: French Revolution and Napoleon
Napoleon grew up in Corsica but moved around. He became a commander of The French Army during The French Revolution. In Paris Napoleon helped overthrow the directory and was proclaimed first consul.


Event in the French Revolution and Napoleon: Storming of the Bastille
The Storming of the Bastille was in 1789, The Bastille was a large prison but at the center was an armory. The prisoners all revolted and storming to the center to claim the weapons. A crowd had gathered outside demanding that the guards set the prisoners free, when they didn't they revolted.



Person in The French Revolution and Napoleon: Marie Antoinette
Marie Antoinette was the last queen of France before the french revolution. In the revolution they tried to punish marie and her family. Her Family then tried to escape from north-eastern france but where caught. Marie antoinette was then beheaded.


Technological Advancement/Invention in the French Revolution and Napoleon: Guillotine
The Guillotine was used many times during the french revolution. the invention was used for inflicting capital punishment by publically beheading a person.



Chapter 8: Latin American Revolutions
The Latin american wars of independence were the revolutions that took place in the early 18th century to the late 19th century. They resulted in the creation of a number of independent countries in latin america.

Event in the Latin American Revolutions: Mexico's Period of Reform
Ruled by Benito Juarez who was considered a Mexican hero. Mexico received liberal reforms which included separation of church and state and distribution of land to the poor and more educational systems.

Person in Latin American Revolutions History: Toussaint Louverture
Toussaint Louverture was a well known Military Leader. He led the Haitian revolution and let free all of the slaves in captive.

Technological Advancement/Invention in Latin American Revolutions History: 3d Printer
The 3d Printer helped with many different situations. 3d Printing is where a computer outputs solidified material into a certain object.

Chapter 9: Industrial Revolution
This was when the world was trading for raw materials and getting territories for their country and this made policies happen.
Event in Industrial Revolution History: Open Door Policy
This was where the U.S. traded with China, the open door policy has another name called the U.S policy. Under this policy no country would gain dominance in China.


Person in Industrial Revolution History: John Hay
John Hay was the person to think of and create the Open Door Policy. He was also an American statesman and official whose career in government stretched in time for almost half a century.
