This book is an assignment for my World History Class, so this book is dedicated to Mr. Levinson.
The belief of Islam began a city named Mecca in 613 A.D. when a man named Muhhamad started to preach the teachings of Allah (God).
It took some time, but Muhammad's teachings eventually spread throughout southwest Asia and northern Africa.
Today, Islam is practiced across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, some European countries, and even some parts of North and South America.
The practices of Islam are "built" on five pillars. Those pillars are Faith, Prayer, Charity, Fasting, and Pilgrimage.
Faith to Islam means to only worship Allah. Prayer means to pray towards Mecca five times a day. Charity means to give a portion of your money to those who need it.
Fasting is when Muslims (followers of Islam), only eat one meal at the end of each day for one month. This month is called Ramadan and it takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
