There was a time in America when every one was losing their money and had no jobs. The American People needed help, so they went to their President. The President's name was Herbert Hoover. When the American people were asking for help, he screamed in their faces," NO! Get your own help!".

Chapter 1- The First New Deal

The Americans were mad and didn't like President Hoover anymore. When it was time to choose a new President, A man name Franklin D. Roosevelt promised to give the Americans help and won! Only 6 states voted for Hoover while 42 others voted for FDR.

FDR kept his promise to help and during his first 100 days as president he did A LOT. He would talk to America through the radio, he called these "fireside chats".

Since the People had no jobs and FDR said he was gonna help, he created programs such as WPA (Work Progress Administration), CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps), TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) to create jobs for the jobless Americans. Also The FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation) that keeps banks safe and AAA (Agricultural Adjustment Act) to keep farming lands clean.

Huey Long didn't like FDR's New Deal programs. He wanted to give free money to the people through a program called "Share the Wealth". He could've been our next President ,but someone killed him.

Chapter 2- Opposition to the New Deal

Whenever President Roosevelt wants to make a new program, the Supreme court an stop it. Some of his programs were getting stopped and FDR did not like this. He started adding people that liked his New Deal programs to the Supreme Court, so they could'nt stop them anymore. People called this " Packing the Supreme Court"

The second new deal was a way that led president Franklin Roosevelt to make a change because people couldn't find jobs for years and he felt that he needed to do that so he could win the election.Then he made The social security Act that would help the elderly people who were unable to work during the Great depression By giving them allowances.
