Sun Tzu was the author of The Art of War and he lived in the 6th century BCE. He was a Chinese military strategist and philosopher.

People are debating if a man named Sun Tzu ever really existed. The book however does and whoever wrote it accredited it to him. The book has influenced many campaigns through the years.

The Art of War depicts war and violence, it is banned because of this. The book has strategy for how to win wars and many leaders have followed this book. 

Why it was banned

It was written around 500 BC. Sun Tzu was a military general and had insight to what war was. He wrote the book to pass his knowledge on.  

It is not only a military strategy book. It gives insight into what war is really like. It gives military strategy and each chapter gives insight to different aspects of war.

Why it should be read

Military strategists have built off this book and have won wars due to this book. It is one of the greatest military strategy books to date. 

The book and the movie are completely different and have nothing in common. The only common factor is that the movie title references the book title. The book is about war and different strategies for war.
