The collapse of the Soviet Union By:Hirthik Shanmugam

The Soviet Union's final leader , Gorbachev, wanted people to talk about the government. This is called Glasnot.
Gorbachev wanted to rebuild the economy by promoting other people. This was called Perestrokia. The Perestrokia failed and the productivity growth of the USSR was failing.

The communists tried to overthrow the central government. This is called a coup. It failed because the communists did not have the power of Gorbachev's president title to overtake him.

Even after Perestrokia and the coup of 1991, The Cold War was still going on and used so much guns that they did not use and they spent too much money that the citizens did not get their needs.

There was a lot of money taken away because of the guns, and that is one of the reasons why the Soviet Union dissolved, the main reason was Perestrokia and Glasnot.

Mikhail Gorbachv resigned on the 25th of December and then the Soviet Union collapsed.

The Soviet Union turned into a few countries like Russia, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekiztan.
