Once upon a time there was a baby dragon named Sparky. He had no parents to take care of him, so he did not know how to breathe fire or fly. Sparky ate the plants that grew by his cave. One day he decided that he wanted to leave the cave and explore the forest.
Sparky left his cave and walked into the forest. Before he had ventured too far into the forest he met a deer. As soon as the deer saw him it ran away. Sparky wondered why that deer ran away. He looked down and saw his sharp claws.

Sparky wandered farther into the forest. Soon he found a nice cool stream and went to take a drink. He looked in the water and was frightened by the creature looking back at him. The creature in the water appeared to be frightened as well. As Sparky walked around the stream he saw that the creature did every thing he did.
He began to realize that the creature in the water was his own reflection. He stopped walking and looked at his reflection. He noticed that he had big pointy teeth and small horns on his head.

When Sparky finished looking at his reflection he jumped over the stream and wandered back into the forest. Before long Sparky saw a big, furry black animal in front of him. He looked at the size of it and decided to just go around it. As he walked around it as quietly as he could, he saw the the animal was eating some berries.

When Sparky saw the berries his belly started to grumble. The creature looked over and Sparky saw its big teeth and long claws. He ducked out of the creature's sight hoping that it did not see him. Sparky poked his head up to see where the creature was and saw that it had left.

Sparky carefully walked over to the berries and started to eat them. Soon he was full of berries and very sleepy. Sparky knew that he should conceal himself just in case the big black creature came back. He walked over to a hollow log and climbed inside. Sparky curled up and was soon fast asleep.
While Sparky was sleeping, the creature came back. It saw that the little dragon was sleeping in the log and decided that Sparky wasn't worth the trouble. The creature grunted and went back to the berry bushes. When Sparky heard the grunt he woke up and froze hoping that the creature wouldn't find him.

Sparky saw that the creature was walking away from the log he was sleeping in, so he waited till it was eating berries again and quietly crawled out of the log and walked away. As he walked away from the creature he heard rustling behind him. Sparky looked back but, did not see anything besides a tail. He didn't know that he had a tail as he looked at it amazed.
After a little while Sparky saw a bird on the ground eating seeds. He walked up to the bird and the bird flew away. Sparky decided to follow the bird and he followed it to a meadow. He watched the bird fly wishing that he could fly, too.
