-How the portrayal of female characters are sexually stereotyped.

Application of literary theory to course readings
The application of literature theory in the Great Gatsby focuses on the power struggles between genders and the way inequality is portrayed in the novel. The author, Fitzgerald presents women as inferior to men for example, Nick's view of Myrtle's sister as a "blurred air to her face" he thinks all women look the same. Also, Daisy says, "the best thing a girl can be in this world is a beautiful fool". Fitzgerald opinion of women is that they are not smart and only valuable when they are serving men. If women try to get freedom then they deserve it when bad things happen to them just like Myrtle. Myrtle behavior was not how women acted she a party girl with two men.
