Once upon a time lived a strong and courageous Scotish general named Macbeth. He defeated the evil army of Norway and received praise for his fearlessness by King Duncan of Scotland.
Macbeth and his friend Banquo were walking through the forest to get home when all of a sudden three witches appear and tell them their future. The witches tell them that Macbeth will be Thane of Cawdor and eventually the king of Scotland and that one day Banquo’s children will be kings.
All of a sudden the witches banish and one of King Duncan’s men approaches Macbeth with news from the king.
“You are the new Thane of Cawdor” says the nobleman.
Macbeth couldn’t believe that one of the witches prophecies came true so he went off to tell his wife Lady Macbeth all about the witches.
“What else did the witches tell you” asked Lady Macbeth
“That I will one day be the King of Scotland” answered Macbeth.
Greedy Lady Macbeth made a plan to get her husband to become King.
Lady Macbeth invited King Duncan to her castle for a feast. She secretly put a magic potion inside King Duncan’s drink.
The magic potion turned Duncan invisible. Since nobody could see King Duncan anymore, everybody believed that he had gone missing.
So Macbeth was crowned as the new King of Scotland. Lady Macbeth was overjoyed that her plan had worked but she still wanted more.
Meanwhile, Macbeth began to wonder if what the witches said about him were true then they also must be true for Banquo. He needed to do something to remain king.
