Once upon a time, there was Pencil. He was a standard number two pencil and very friendly. But Pencil had a problem: he was lonely. Pencil had not made any friends yet.

One day, after spotting a group of crayons, Pencil came up with an idea. He would go join the group of crayons and they would all become friends.

Pencil went towards the crayons and said,
"Hello, my name is Pencil, can I join your group and be your friends?"
But the crayons shook their heads and said,
"No. We are crayons so you cannot join us."

Pencil walked away from the crayons sadly. He did not understand why he could not join the crayons. All he wanted to do was make friends. Oh! A group of markers! Pencil decided to go join them and become their friends.

Pencil went towards the markers and said,
"Hello, my name is Pencil, can I join your group and be your friends?"
But the crayons shook their heads and said,
"No. We are markers so you cannot join us."

Again, Pencil walked away sadly. He did not understand what not being a marker had to with his ability to make friends. But Pencil would not give up! He spotted a group of chalk and decided to give making friends one last try.
Pencil went towards the chalk and said,
"Hello, my name is Pencil, can I join your group and be your friends?"
But the crayons shook their heads and said,
"No. We are chalk so you cannot join us."
