My name is Hayley, and I am going to be showing you cool science things you can find around your house.

Our first step is finding something that is made up of matter.

But first, what is matter?

It is any substance that has mass and takes up space by having volume.

Examples of matter are all around you!

In my kitchen an example would be this table right here.

Or even some food, like this apple!

Next, we should find any elements in my home!

An element is a substance that cannot be broken down by any means.

Look, I found a pencil.

Did you know that there are elements in a pencil?

It contains the element, Carbon!

Let's head back to the kitchen, to find some mixtures!

A mixture is a substance made by mixing other substances together.

It is chocolate milk! It is a mixture because you mix milk and chocolate together to make a different substance.

In the kitchen, we use a lot of water.

We use water in different stages.

We can use it as a solid, liquid, or a gas!

It is a solid when it is ice and we put in our drinks.

It is a liquid when we drink it.

We also can boil water and then it turns into a gas!

We also can find chemical and physical changes in our house!
