I was in Franklin, TN hunting with friends.

We woke up around 3:30am and headed to the woods

The location was actually in the middle of town on a farm right behind a Super Walmart. We were the only hunters.

I was sitting with one of my best friends facing a hill where we believed the turkeys were roosting.

Lots of jakes, young male turkeys, came out of the roost onto our side of the hill and towards our decoy.

We honestly did not even have to call much. A group of five jakes came into range directly, showing no hesitation.

One turkey stopped at around 25 yards out. At that point I was imply waiting for the bird to bring its head up into a position that is good to shoot.

I took my gun off of safe and took aim at the bird. I was shaking with some nerves but managed to keep the gun steady. I pulled the trigger.

To my pleasure, the turkey dropped dead. My friend a I yelled with excitement. The feeling of getting my first turkey was a special one.
