Dedicated to every young girl that dreams to be a firefighter.

Once upon a time there was a young girl who had big ambitions and dreams. Her name was Amelia. She spent her days dreaming about her future, and what she would become. Amelia longed to be strong and independent and have a career as a firefighter, just like her father. Her father was a strong and dedicated Captain of the local Fire Department.

At every department event, Amelia could not help but notice that there were no females in her father’s department. Amelia always questioned her father, “Why was the department so male dominated?” Her father always shrugged off the question, and explained that many women simply do not choose to go into firefighting. However, her father always encouraged her to go after any goal she set forth. From this event, Amelia felt a fire lit within her heart. More than anything she desired to prove that she was capable of serving her community, just as any man could.

As a child, Amelia loved to play soccer, climb trees, and run races with her neighborhood friends. Her mom always questioned, “Amelia why don’t you want to paint or play dolls with the other girls on her street”.
Amelia never understood why girls and boys did not play together? She always knew that she was different then the other girls in her neighborhood.

As Amelia grew, her passion to become the first female firefighter at her father’s department grew greater and greater. Amelia began training athletically and pursuing her studies in Fire Science. Amelia knew exactly how she wanted to contribute to her community. Despite her Mother’s concerns, she worked tirelessly towards her goal.
