Michael Jordan entered this world on February 17, 1963. Although he was born in Brooklyn, New York, he grew up in the beautiful city of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Jordan came from a big family. He had 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He grew up in a loving and supportive home. His parents showed him that success comes from the work that is put in.

From an early age competition ran through Jordan's blood. His parents encouraged his love of sports. They even built a basketball court in their backyard!

Jordan attended college at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He played basketball for UNC which helped sky rocket his basketball career. In 1982 he helped lead UNC to the NCAA division championship.

1983 and 1984 turned out to be two big years for Jordan. He was chosen as the NCAA Player of the year. This shows that hard work and dedication pays off.
