Hi, my name is Paul and I'm gonna tell you my story of how I came to this great country. It all started with the persecution of Jews. I am a Jew myself and I would live in fear most days and definitely could have been persecuted if I had stayed in Europe. Ellis Island was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.

Aaaahhh
You can't run!!
So I hopped onto a boat and began my journey to the USA. It took a little to get there but I made it eventually. When I got there it was noisy, smelly, and loud. I went into the building with my baggage and set it down to head into the registry room. The workers were nice and involved. They told us what to do and helped us do it. It would have been a lot smoother if some spoke English but it still worked.

I had to talk to a nice guy and he would make a decision that either I was good to enter the country or my case needed some time to review. He decided I was good to go.
I then had to wait in a huge line for the medical exam. It took a while but I eventually got there. The exam didn't take that long and I was healthy enough to pass. I continued on to the legal inspection.

In legal inspection, I was asked a series of questions. I answered them all truthfully and I passed. I saw others using interpreters thankfully I speak English.
I was almost finished! I was heading towards the stairs of separation. I walked down the left staircase because I was planning on staying in the city.

I went to exchange my money quickly and then I was basically done. I was basically done with this long process. It had been hours and hours.
I was now at the kissing post. It was a new start in my life. No more living in fear. I would have hugged someone if there was anyone for me. I was so happy. That's it that is my story.
