On January 16, 1980, a wonderful little boy was born. His name was Lin-Manuel Miranda.

He and His family lived in a little house in Upper Manhattan New York.
He lived with his parents and his sister. His parents always encouraged them to give back to others, be hard workers, and treat others with kindness

Along with being encouraged to work hard Lin's family was always surrounded by music. He enjoyed listening to music, playing instruments, and singing.

One day he and his family went to see a musical called Les Misérables. The Show was filled with wonderful acting, dancing and singing.

Lin admired all of the hard work these actors put into their show. He was inspired and wanted to become involved in musical theater. It became his dream to perform on stage and make others happy.

When Lin got to high school he started performing in musical theater. He and his cast mates worked very hard to perform amazing shows.

Lin really enjoyed performing in his school's shows. He got cast in lots of roles and always had fun. Even though he was having fun he also worked hard and was nice to others.

Before he knew it he was waving goodbye to his family and heading off to college. He was going to study film and theater.

Life was going very well for Lin. He liked college and was having fun hanging out with his friends, but even though he was having fun he never stopped working hard and treating others with kindness.
One day while Lin was at school inspiration struck!

He decided that he was going to write his very own musical. He grabbed a paper and pen and went straight to work.

He worked and worked and worked until he finished his musical. He was very proud of what he had done. He decided to call it "In The Heights."
Lin decided to show his musical to his teacher. His teacher saw all of the hard work he had put into his musical and realized how special this musical was to him.

His hard work did not go to waste. His musical was accepted by the school and performed as their show that year.

One day after a performance a couple of people and alumni from his school approached Lin. They asked if his musical could be adapted to a Broadway production. Lin was very excited and said Yes!

Lin worked very hard to turn "In The Heights" into a broadway ready musical. He didn't give up and his hard work payed off. His musical was a hit and won may awards. Many people came to see it and it made lots of people happy. Making people happy was his top goal.
"In The Heights" left broadway in 2008. Lin was very proud of his musical, but he wanted to continue to perform and make more people happy. One day while Lin was on a beach vacation he was struck with an idea.

He was inspired to write a musical based on one of the founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton. He wanted to teach people history in a new and entertaining way. The only question was would people really like it?
Lin decided to find the answer to that question later, instead he got right to work. He had lots of ideas for his new musical. He got his friend Stephen Sondheim to help him create the lyrics for his songs, while he worked on creating a story.
