Today I will write a story about my life when I was in WWI War. I came from Russia. I was a soldier and I fought at Eastern Front in WWI. WWI was a war between the allies (Russia, France, British Empire, Italy, US, Japan, Romania, Serbia, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Montenegro) and the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey, Bulgaria) from 1914 to 1918.

On June 28 1914, a young terrorist named Gavril Princip shot Archduke Ferdinand, heir to the Austria-Hungarian throne. Austria-Hungary initiated war with Serbia. Russia began assembling its military forces to protect Serbia. By August 6 1914, the two unions (Germany and Austria-Hungary against Britain, Russia, and France) were at war.

The First and Second Russian Army rapidly compromised the German positions in East Prussia, moving with such zeal that they outran their logistical support. After weeks of loses, the remaining German Eighth Army (led by Ludendorf), left their defensive positions and marched between the advanced positions of both Russian armies. The German Army turned West and attacked the flank of the Russian Second Army. Within 4 days of fighting, bogged down in lakes and swamps, the Russian Second Army was defeated. Samsonov shot himself. A week later, General Hindenburg led the Eighth German Army, bolstered by reinforcements, to drive the Russian First Army completely out of Prussia. Because of those reasons, Russia needs more soldiers to fight in the war and I got involved into the war.

My life during WWI was very tough. Low morale, poor supply lines and the rapid arrival of German reserves from the Western Front slowed the advance and on 16th July the offensive was brought to an end. Soldiers on the Eastern Front like me were dismayed at the news and regiments began to refuse to move to the front line. There was a rapid increase in the number of men deserting and by the autumn of 1917 an estimated 2 million men had unofficially left the army but I can't left the army because of my family. I have to fight for my country and be able to survive to come back home.

The Mosin Nagant was developed for Russian use during the Turko-Russian War. It had a unique design that allowed its bolt to retract more smoothly without the trouble of cleaning after multiple uses. The Nagan used the standard 7.62 mm round which allowed for less need to create different types of ammunition. With the start of WWI, production was restricted to the M1891 dragoon and infantry models for the sake of simplicity.
