Geography
To learn anything about history, you must start with geography. All of the land on earth is split into 7 different pieces, called continents. So how can we describe where the continents are located? We do this by using a system called absolute location. Absolute location uses lines of latitude (lines that go left to right on a map) and lines of longitude (lines that go up and down on a map).

Economics
An economic system is a system of making and selling goods. There are three main types of economic systems, and they are traditional, command, and market. Both traditional and command economies do not give the people much freedom when it comes to making goods. This makes the market economy the odd one in the group, because the people have the freedom to make and sell whatever they please.

Here in our traditional economy, we practice farming, hunting, and gathering.

9
Government
What kind of government do we have? America’s government is called a democracy, which means that the people help make decisions for the country. We do this by voting. In a monarchy, a monarch is in control. A monarch is just a fancy name for a king or queen. Now there is also a type of leader called a dictator, and their government is called a dictatorship. In a dictatorship, the people have no freedom and the dictator forces the country to do what they want.

Culture
Your culture is just your way of life. Many things make up your culture, like your religion, clothes, interests, and even the food you eat. Maybe you play a sport. That makes up your culture. Everything around you makes up your culture.

Religion
There are many different kinds of religion. Two popular religions are Christianity and Buddhism. Christianity believes that there is one god. Their holy book is called the bible. Christianity has the most followers out of any other religion in the world. Buddhism is very different than Christianity. Buddhists do not believe in a god, they follow something called the Four Noble Truths. They also believe that when you die, you are reborn into something new.

Christians worship in places called churches.
