This is to all the school children in Kenya

Once upon a time there was a five year old girl named Amelie. She was very poor and lived on a small farm with her mom and dad. Sadly only her brother went to school and he was far away. Her dad was making all the money and had to farm all day. Every night, after her mom Mary made dinner, she'd go outside and give some bread to her dad. He'd smile and then she'd sit and watch him.
At about 8:00pm, the dad would stop and sit with Amelie. Together they'd look at the moon and stars. The stars were the only light they had and Amelie always said she one day would take a star and bring it to our house to light our house.
One year later when Amelie was 6, her dad was sitting outside with her and had some great news. He told her that she was going to go to a free boarding school. Amelie beamed and told her dad that she wanted to learn everything. He started teaching her literacy every night before the school started.

Finally it was the day and Amelie got to go to school. The temperature was hot and the heat made Amelie sweat. She said bye to her mom but she was too excited she didn't cry. Her dad drove her through the town while Amelie was looking through the window.

Amelie said bye to her dad but it was harder for her because she and her dad were close. They hugged for a long time and then she walked in the school. She worked so hard and when it came to the end of 12th grade, she got a scholarship for college. She took it but was scared. She wanted to call her dad and mom but they were far away and had no phone.
