This is Ted. He is a zebra, but he does not have any stripes.

One day, Ted met a group of zebras who all had black stripes. The group of zebras teased Ted because he did not have black stripes like they did. Ted was embarrassed and upset, so he ran away.

Ted wandered over to a puddle and gazed into it. He was upset at his reflection. “Why can’t I look like everyone else?” he thought. “I wish I was not different.” Ted slowly walked away. He did not know where he was going.

Ted found a big rock under a tree.
"That might be a good spot to spend the night," said Ted.
Suddenly, the rock got up and moved!

The rock was actually an elephant!
"You look sad, young zebra. My name is Rafiki. What is troubling you?" said the big elephant.
"I wish I had stripes like all of the other zebras," cried Ted.

Rafiki walked over to a tree and grabbed two apples. "Can you tell these apples apart?" he asked.
"Yes!" said Ted. "This apple is green, and that apple is red."

Rafiki smashed both apples with his strong trunk. "Can you tell the apples apart, now?"
Ted looked at the apples for a long time. He could not find anything different about them.
