Who were the patriots and loyalist?  Patriots were people who wanted the American colonies to gain their independence from Britain. Loyalists were American colonists who remained loyal to the British Crown during the American Revolutionary War. Why were there two groups?  The Revolutionary War split the people of the American colonies into two groups the loyalists and the patriots.

Patriots vs Loyalist i choose Patriots. Patriots fought for rights and independence unlike the loyalist who fought for their king." They fought for rights home and independence" , "Loyalist fought for their king not their own coast.

The Patriots also had an outstanding leader, Loyalist had a king that made them fight Patriots chose to fight for their own risk. Their king told them that they had to fight Patriots wanted to do it to see if they could get more freedom.

Loyalist had more money and were rich they could afford everything patriots couldn't afford anything they had very few money. They had shortage of food, supplies, etc. Most of the soldiers were farmers so thats how they got their food.
